We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Short Essay Competition 2022 (SEC2022) on the theme of “Education is key to the development of compassionate society.” We received many outstanding essays, but after careful consideration, our judges have selected the following three winners:

First Place:  Nurfaizatul Aisyah Abdul Aziz, Terengganu, Malaysia

 

Second Place:  Rexson Ngong Chanjoh Yaoundé, Cameroon

 

Third Place:  Jhon Marie D. Baguio, Cebu, Phillipines

 

We congratulate the winners and thank all the participants for their submissions. 

The quality of the essays we received is a testament to the importance of education in shaping a more compassionate and just society. 

The winners will receive their prizes and certificates shortly, and their essays will be published on our website and social media platforms.

Theme: Education is key to the Development of a Compassionate Society

Introduction

Like in all great stories, a hero is a pivotal figure in rallying the people to rise in hopes for a better tomorrow. In real life, education is envisaged to be this hero, a key saviour needed by everyone.

Education is indeed the key for sustainable community, enabling them to consistently improve and uplift themselves.

Stories of emerging communities can be inspiring . How real people against all odds are able to rise with the power of education. These are the stories we want from you, stories that will reinforce upon others the importance of education. These are the stories we want you to share with the world.

The Short Essay Competition 2022 (SEC2022) welcomes these type of stories with the following theme:
“Education is key to the development of compassionate society”.

To participate, write your short essay based on the theme given, in not more than 1000 words.

Prizes

1st Prize : RM 1,000
2nd Prize: RM 600
3rd Prize: RM 300

Terms & Conditions

  1. The competition is open for all adults aged 18 and above to participate.
  2. These terms and conditions apply to all participants unless stated otherwise.
  3. All entries must be in English and submitted online through the official portal. Any written hardcopy submissions is NOT accepted.
  4. Submission deadline: Tuesday, 15th November 2022, 6.00pm Malaysian time. Essays received after the deadline shall be automatically REJECTED and UNQUALIFIED.
  5. By submitting the entry, the participants undertake to the Organizer that:
    • The participant is the author of the submitted work.
    • The submitted work is original and unpublished.
    • He/she has read and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Competition.
    • All the information provided are true and accurate.
    • He/She shall bear any consequences (including automatically be disqualified from participating in this Competition) should there is any breach of the terms and conditions of the competitionon his/her part.
    • Entrants / Particiants shall retain the proprietary of  their submitted entries, however, by entering, all entrants hereby grant  RDC Bhd a worldwide royalty-free perpetual licence to edit, publish, reproduce and/or use each entry in any and/or all media (including print and online) for publicity and news purposes. RDC BHD is under no obligation to publish any entries. Please note, any publication of an entry does not mean that entrant has won a prize.
  6. The essay must not more than 1000 words.
  7. All essays submitted  online shall not be returned.
  1. Multiple submission are welcomed, however only one essay from a single author is allowed to be selected for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.
  2. The Organizer reserve the right to request for a proof of identity and age of the winner of Competition winner before the prize is dispatched to or collected by the winner.
  3. The Winner agrees to allow RDC BHD and its advertising and promotional agencies to publish his/her name, photographs,  and/or essay or any parts thereof without further compensation and/or notice.
  4. The Organizer reserve the right to substitute prizes that have an equal or greater monetary value than the prizes offered in the Competition notice. Prizes that remain unclaimed by the winners within thirty 30 working days from the day of the prize-giving ceremony shall be forfeited and thereafter, the Organizer shall have no obligation to substitute any alternative prize, cash equivalent or other compensation to the winners.

General

  • Judges’ decision is final and not subject to appeal. No correspondence will be entertained.
  • The Organizer reserve the right to amend, terminate or add on to the terms and conditions at any time by placing a notice at the relevant website or any designated area.

Liability

    • The Organizer shall not be made responsible or liable for:
      1. Any delay and/or failure in participating in this Competition due to any reason beyond the control of the Organizer; or
      2. Any injury, loss, problem, damages, or costs of any kind suffered resulting from participation in this Competition or in result of accepting or utilizing the prizes awarded.
